Car Running Cost Calculator is a free UK tool and guide site for people who own and run a car. It shows what a car really costs each year, month and mile, and the guides explain the rules and charges behind those costs in plain English.
Who runs this site
The site is run by Balakrishna Atthota (byline: Bala A), who is building a car-ownership app for UK drivers and writes these guides alongside it. When a guide is about a rule or a rate, it links to the official source and shows the date it was last checked.
How we write
We use official sources such as GOV.UK, the DVSA, the DVLA, Transport for London and HMRC. We show our working when we calculate something, we say clearly when a number is an estimate, and we correct mistakes quickly. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with HMRC, the DVLA or any government body.
